Hunger spikes in America

Demand is on the rise in food banks, even in some of America’s wealthier regions. The data from the Census Bureau mentioned that more Americans are going hungry now than at any point during the COVID-19 pandemic. A recent survey shows that one in eight Americans reported they sometimes or often did not have enough food in November. Food insecurity has doubled since last year, exacerbated by the pandemic. In some of the more affluent counties of the U.S., before COVID-19, it was the elderly and underemployed that were the majority clients of the food banks, but recently there is an influx of service workers disproportionately hit by the pandemic. Food banks and pantries have already provided food for millions of Americans
