New technology for office communication

The “new market” is familiar with mixed reality tools such as Zoom, Teams, and Slack which enable virtual meetings from any location. With the onset of the COVID pandemic, there have been a merging of the real and virtual worlds to bring a new environment. It is reported that for the foreseeable future, 42% of full-time employees will be working from home. Many companies are trying to reduce their real-world office footprints by a third. Hence, new applications are redefining the future of work and study. There is an increase in demand for virtual focus groups powered by artificial intelligence which will enable companies to perform market research and hear more voices; the anonymity of the online platform enabling even those who would not typically speak up in person to voice their opinion.

Companies are also adopting mixed reality environments for project needs. Collaboration tools such as online sticky notes, shared digital whiteboards, live co-editing wikis, etc. which allows virtual brainstorming and fast to market of new concepts. With the tools at disposal, more ideas are being shared and reviewed than if a live facilitator with a whiteboard could have achieved. These benefits will drive the next wave of mixed reality work to be sustainably productive.
