Boko Haram claims abduction in Nigeria

I n Nigeria, more than 330 schoolboys went missing after gunmen with assault rifles attacked their Government Science Secondary School in Kankara, Katsina state on Friday night. On Tuesday, Boko Haram terrorists claimed responsibility for the abduction through an unverified audio message. A presidential spokesman informed that the Nigerian government is negotiating with the attackers. Aminu Masari, Governor of Katsina, said that security agencies deployed for rescue operations had located the abductors’ positions. The Islamic extremist group had carried out mass abductions before, with the most serious being the one in April 2014, when more than 270 schoolgirls were captured from the Government Secondary School in Chibok, Borno state; about 100 of those girls are still missing.
