In Him we live

TO LIVE AS A CHRISTIAN IS TO LIVE OUT THE NEW IDENTITY. IT REQUIRES US TO PUT ON OUR NEW NATURE DAILY AND CHOOSE CHRISTLIKE ATTITUDES, RESPONSES, AND ACTIONS.

Value-based Christian living begins with an understanding of one central truth: who Christ is. Christians are not merely admirers of Jesus; they are followers of the One whom Scripture boldly declares
to be God Himself. The Bible affirms that Jesus is “the visible image of the invisible God” (Col. 1:15) and “the exact representation of His being” (Heb. 1:3). He does not merely reflect God’s character; He reveals God to us perfectly. In Him, we see God’s compassion, holiness, truth, and heart for humanity. He rules as Lord over all creation, holds authority to judge the world, and sustains everything by His powerful word. In Him, everything holds together, protected, preserved, and given meaning. For Christians, accurate knowledge of Christ shapes everything about their lives.

Understanding who Christ is naturally leads us to understand who we are in Christ. New life begins the moment we acknowledge Him as the leader and Lord over all we are and all we do. This surrender is not a one-time event but a daily posture of the heart. Romans 12:1–2 calls us to offer our entire selves to God as a living sacrifice, allowing Him to transform our thinking so that our lives reflect His purpose. Colossians 3:16 reminds us to let the message of Christ dwell richly within us, shaping our thoughts and filling us with wisdom. Through the Holy Spirit, who strengthens, teaches, and empowers us, we are shaped into the likeness of Christ and enabled to live the life He desires of us.
When we place our faith in Christ, we become a new creation. Our old, rebellious nature is replaced with a new, loving one. The guilt that once separated us from God is removed at the cross. We are no longer slaves to sin or bound by its compulsions. Instead, we are declared not guilty, accepted, and deeply loved. Our lives now belong to Christ. We are safe, secure, and held in His hands. This security does not just offer future hope; it gives peace and confidence in the present moment. Every act of service and every good work flows out of this unshakeable assurance.
To live as a Christian is to live out the new identity. It requires us to put on our new nature daily and choose Christlike attitudes, responses, and actions. As we grow to love Jesus more, we naturally grow to love others more deeply. Being a Christian is far more than having good resolutions or noble intentions. It is a life transformed by Godly love, shaped by God’s Spirit, and directed by God’s truth. C.S. Lewis, a prolific writer, states that, “The Christian does not think God will love us because we are good, but that God will make us good because He loves us.” Value-based Christian living flows from this truth. It is built on the values Jesus embodied: love, humility, integrity, compassion, truth, purity, and faithfulness. These values guide our choices, shape our relationships, and influence all that we do. When Christ lives in us, everything about us becomes a testimony of His grace. Ultimately, being a Christian is to represent Christ wherever we go and in whatever we say. In following Him, we find not just a way to live, but the only life worth living.
